The Big Issue

The current edition of the Big Issue features new fiction including Penni Russon (last seen at the front of CYL”s Winter Writing Workshop for teenagers) and a new story from Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton.

Big Issue books editor Jo Case notes that this is arguably the biggest print of any local short story publication in Australia. So keep an eye on the street. It will cost your $5 and help the homeless and unemployed (that’s the sellers, not the writers).

The Centre for Youth Literature is currently working with the Big Issue on a special Book Week edition. Look out for that one in August. We’re working with The Age on their Book Week supplement, All About Books. You can pre-order a class set here.

AS for the other big issue, proposed changes to copyright law in Australia, there’s variety reports and commentators responding to the news.
