Reading Matters

Reading Matters, organised by the Centre for Youth Literature, is Australia’s leading youth literature event for both professionals and young people. This biennial conference brings together leading Australian and international writers, commentators and performers to explore current issues and ideas in youth literature. It features a dynamic program of readings, discussion and performances.

Reading Matters 2009 will take place from 28 to 30 May at the State Library of Victoria and Storey Hall, RMIT. It offers an outstanding roster of international and Australian writers, including:

  • Bernard Beckett (New Zealand)
  • Australian writers Anthony Eaton, Libby Gleeson, Alison Goodman, Armin Greder, James Roy and more.

For professionals

The Reading Matters conference, featuring passionate discussions about youth literature, is on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 May.
Cost: $350/$380 (Booktalkers subscribers/non-subscribers)

For school groups

Youth Day on Thursday 28 May includes panels and workshops for primary and secondary school students.
