Sonya Hartnett tees off…
Today, Sonya Hartnett won the CBCA Award for Younger Readers. But she’s not too keen on her rivals, according to a report in the Courier Mail.
“A lot of the Australian stuff out there is crap, it’s rubbish,” she said.
“I can’t really speak for so far this year, but last year with the fiction so much of it should not have been published.
“Publishing standards have dropped which is a response to the fact that as a culture we celebrate mediocrity.”
