Assistance for People with a Disability

Using the Library

Library staff are available to assist readers to use the catalogue as well as to obtain books from the shelves for them and to deliver them to the Disability Room, if required. Please ask at an Information Desk for assistance in using the Library. (The exact location of Information Desks are clearly identified on the Library floor plan.)

Information resources & referral

People who have a temporary or permanent disablility, their service providers and carers, or others with an information need in the area of disabilities will find invaluable resources at the State Library of Victoria. Our staff have compiled a resource guide to assist users in locating this material. We can also refer you to other agencies with appropriate information resources.

Attending Events

When booking for State Library of Victoria events, please advise early if sign, oral or loop is required. Lecture material can be provided in Braille or large print, on computer disk or cassette, or emailed on request.
