La Trobe Reading room

The Library's most spectacular architectural feature, the grand La Trobe Reading Room makes an impressive centrepiece for a special event.

Capacity

The La Trobe Reading Room can accomodate 520 people for cocktail function.

Floor area

The floor area of the La Trobe Reading Room is 1,006 square metres. As the reading desks and tables are permanently fixed, they cannot be moved to create a larger space. The usable floor area is 776 square metres.

Availability

The La Trobe Reading Room is available after 6.30pm Friday to Sunday. Proposals for other times will be assessed on application. Venue hire is based on an hourly rate and is subject to a minimum hire period.

Facilities & services

Venue hire includes basic furniture, signage, venue set-up, suport and security. Access to cloaking facilities is also available.

Catering

Catering services are provided by the Library's preferred caterers. Contact details can be provided on request.

Audiovisual

Audiovisual requirements in the La Trobe Reading Room should be discussed with the Library's preferred audiovisual contractor, and any consulting and hire fees will be at the hirer's cost. Please contact the Venue Manager for more information.

Special conditions

Special care must be taken with heritage furniture and fittings, and any potential impacts should be discussed with the Venue Manager.
