Regional Program

In this outreach program, Booktalkers travels to Bendigo and interstate to Launceston. In addition, a touring workshop program has been added to the Bookgig on the Road program.

Bendigo Booktalkers

Wed 7 March
An opportunity for professionals to meet popular authors. Maria Boyd is the author of the hit debut novel Will, about a hard but hilarious year in the life of a Year 11 boy. Sue Lawson’s Allie McGregor’s True Colours (2006) is her first book for teenagers. Doug MacLeod’s popular books include I’m Being Stalked by a Moonshadow and Kevin the Troll (due April 2007). Introduced by Paula Kelly from the Centre for Youth Literature.

Touring programs

Bookgig on the Road: Bird and Sugar Boy - Sofie Laguna

13-24 August
Funny, moving and irresistible, Sofie Laguna's novel Bird and Sugar Boy has been adapted as a Bookgig directed by Jenny Lovell. This is an exciting way to experience this wonderful story and meet author Sofie Laguna.

This special event, presented in partnership with Regional Arts Victoria, will tour Victoria for two weeks in August. Bookings are available for schools in regional Victoria and outer-metropolitan Melbourne.

Creative writing workshop with Sofie Laguna

29 October-2 November
Sofie Laguna brings her unique writing skills to primary and secondary schools throughout Victoria. Designed to get students excited about writing, the workshop will focus on ideas for brainstorming and developing strong characters and stories. Sofie’s performance background will ensure a lively session.
