Miss Cyrus Tang Memories of Childhood
The primary aim of Cyrus’s project is to capture fading memories of a previously undocumented childhood, growing up in a rough, harsh, claustrophobic and most densely populated area of Hong Kong.
She will construct a miniature nursery that will ultimately be burnt, with the remnants crushed under controlled conditions and their flattened husks embedded in resin.
Another stage of the project will see the formulation of a white porcelain sculpture of Cyrus as a child, which will then be dried and immersed in water in a glass tank, allowing the figurine to dissolve over time. This component is performance based and will be conducted in an installation space.
Each process will be documented and result in a digital video and a series of large format prints, mounted on glass or on acrylic sheets.
