About the Georges Mora Foundation Fellowship

This Fellowship is named for Georges Mora, who was an entrepreneur, restaurateur, art dealer and pivotal figure in the Australian art world. It is funded by the Georges Mora Foundation and awarded in association with the State Library, the Embassy of France and the Alliance Francaise de Melbourne.

Aims of the Fellowship

The Fellowship, along with the other activities of the Georges Mora Foundation, supports and promotes contemporary art and artists in Australia. It also demonstrates the Library's strong commitment to original scholarship and creative endeavour.

Benefits

The Georges Mora Foundation Fellowship gives one artist per year the opportunity to study and experiment in order to generate new thinking to be developed through their art.

The recipient will receive the means and uninterrupted time to work closely with the rich resources of the State Library. The Fellow will have access to a private study for the course of the Fellowship and may use the Library outside the opening hours of reading rooms. In addition, if the Fellow wishes to apply for a residency at the Cite Internationale de Arts in Paris, the Embassy of France and the Alliance Francaise de Melbourne will provide assistance with the application.

Up to 10 finalists will benefit from access to expert advisors to assist them in their professional and idea development.

Eligibility to apply

The Georges Mora Foundation Fellowship is open to any Australian citizen or resident who has a recognised and reputable body of work in the field of contemporary art. There is no age limit.
