About the La Trobe Society Fellowship

Aims of the Fellowship

The La Trobe Society Fellowship, sponsored in 2009-10 by the AGL Shaw Foundation, aims to promote recognition and understanding of the achievements of Charles Joseph La Trobe, Victoria's first Lieutenant-Governor. It also demonstrates the State Library's strong commitment to original scholarship, writing and creative endeavour.

Benefits

The Fellowship provides the means and the uninterrupted time to work closely with the rich resources of the State Library of Victoria in order to research Victoria's colonial history during La Trobe's administration. The Fellow will have access to a private study for the course of the Fellowship and may use the Library outside the opening hours of reading rooms.

Eligibility to apply

The La Trobe Society Fellowship is open to historians, scholars and writers who are Australian residents.
