About the AGL Shaw Summer Research Fellowship
These Summer Research Fellowships are named in honour of eminent historian Professor AGL Shaw AO. The Fellowships provide an opportunity for honours and postgraduate students to undertake in-depth research in the Library's rich collection over four weeks in January or February 2010.
Aims of the Fellowships
The aims of the Summer Research Fellowships are to:
- provide access to the research collections of the State Library of Victoria for emerging scholars
- promote the State Library of Victoria as a centre of scholarly activity and research
- encourage scholarly, literary and creative use of the Library's collections and the production of publications/work based on them
- publicise the Library's collections.
Benefits
The Summer Research Fellowships provide for early-career scholars pursuing research projects the means and the uninterrupted time to work closely with the rich resources of the State Library of Victoria over the summer holiday period. Fellows will have access to a private study for the course of the Fellowship. They may use the Library outside the opening hours of reading rooms.
Eligibility to apply
The AGL Shaw Summer Research Fellowships are open to students enrolled at a Victorian university who have satisfied the requirements of an undergraduate degree and are entering or undertaking an honours program or their first postgraduate degree or diploma.
