I’m Free! I’m Not Lost!

17 January 2008

If you happen to see a book with the label 'I'm Free! I'm Not Lost!', don't be confused - it is part of The Summer Read's BookCrossing program.

BookCrossing is a worldwide movement in which books are left in public places to be picked up and read by others, who then do the same. The aim is to make the whole world a library.

Victorian libraries are doing their bit by releasing 67 Summer Read books into Victorian communities. In addition, each library event will have a free book giveaway.

Lucky Victorian readers may have already found books released on 11 January - on the city-bound Lilydale train, at the Collingwood Pool, in Altona Beach's Pier Street and in a bus shelter near the Newport train station.

If you do find one of these books please pick it up and read it. Then send it on its journey to a new reader by placing it back out in a public place in the community.

All the Summer Read BookCrossing books have been registered prior to their release, and you can track their journey around the world as the books pass from person to person. You can also take part in online discussions about your favourite authors, characters and books in all genres. Visit the BookCrossing website to find out more.
