Christos Tsiolkas was born in Melbourne in 1965. His first novel, Loaded, was made into the award-winning film Head On. Other writing includes a collaborative dialogue, Jump Cuts, several plays and the novel The Jesus Man. Christos is of Balkan descent, and his most recent novel Dead Europe (winner of the 2006 Age Book of the Year Award and the 2006 Melbourne Prize for Literature Best Writing Award) is a response to the civil wars in Yugoslavia in the 1990s.
