Shadowboxing is a collection of ten linked stories in the life of a boy growing up in 1960s Fitzroy. Written in spare, understated style, it carries a powerful emotional impact. Tony Birch has published short fiction, poetry and creative non-fiction. He currently teaches creative writing at the University of Melbourne.
Cafe Scheherazade is a haunting meditation on displacement and the way the effects of war linger in the minds of survivors. It takes the reader on a journey that ranges from Kobe to Paris, from Vilna to Melbourne. Arnold Zable is a dynamic, highly-acclaimed storyteller as well as a widely-published and award winning writer. He is president of the Melbourne branch of the worldwide association of writers, International PEN.
