What's your favourite work of fiction set in Victoria?
Power without Glory – Frank Hardy: for a reminder that as bad as politics might be now, the good old days for much worse in many ways.
Which Victorian writer do you admire the most?
Don Watson: for an eye-opening account of Keating’s Prime Ministership and for encouraging us to speak up against words that mean nothing.
Where do you like to do your reading in Victoria?
On the couch at home, because I haven’t yet aspired or acquired a couch overlooking the beach.
What do you believe is the best film adaptation of a Victorian book?
Chopper: a great distillation of Read’s books, sanitised only by his proceeds going to the Royal Children’s Hospital.
What is your most treasured memory of a public library?
Having access to a complete catalogue of Asterix and Tintin.
What is your best holiday read?
Shane Maloney: funny, colloquial and politically savvy, all on the trail of murder.
