Musical Wednesdays - Arts Music Video Program: July-September 2008
From March to November the Library runs a regular program of music videos selected from our collection. These relaxed Wednesday afternoon sessions, held in the Arts Listening-Viewing Room, are a must for music fans. Enjoy free screenings of classic music and dance performances - from popular musicals to opera greats.
Time Every second Wednesday, 12 noon-2pm (approximately) Venue Arts Listening-Viewing Room. Enter via the Arts Reading Room and Audio-Visual Centre (from the Information Centre). Bookings Not required but early arrival (ie 10-15 minutes before scheduled program starting time) is recommended due to limited seating. For groups of more than four people please ring 03 8664 7194 in advance to make arrangements. Cost Free Programming The program may be subject to change without prior notice. Rudolf Nureyev: His complete Bell Telephone Hour performances, 1962-1964
12-12.35pm Features four stunning live telecasts of Rudolf Nureyev's performances recorded for the Bell Telephone Hour television program. With items from the ballet's Flower Festival in Genzano, Le Corsaire, La Esmeralda and Swan Lake.

12-2.45pm World premiere performance of an opera based on the classic play by Tennessee Williams. Composed by Andre Previn, it features Renee Fleming and soloists of the San Francisco Opera. With the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, conducted by Andre Previn. Recorded live in 1998.

The Sleeping Beauty: A ballet in three acts
12-2.15pm With music by Tchaikovsky, this classic from the ballet repertoire features a star-studded cast in a beautiful production, telling the timeless story of The Princess Aurora.

La Stupenda: A portrait of Dame Joan Sutherland
12-1.30pm A tribute to Australian opera legend Dame Joan Sutherland, with performances, biography and interviews. Recorded on the occasion of Dame Joan's retirement from the opera stage.

La Fille Mal Gardee: A ballet in three acts
12-1.45pm Featuring a stellar cast in a wonderful production, La Fille Mal Gardee is a ballet classic set in the French countryside. Choreography by Frederick Ashton. Music by Ferdinand Harold.
