Redmond Barry Lecture 2004
Putting Art in its Place
Singer, writer, festival director and public arts advocate Robyn Archer delivered the 2004 State Library of Victoria’s Redmond Barry Lecture on Tuesday 6 July. She talks about how a city shapes and defines an arts program, and reflects on the challenge of devising a year-long program for the city of Liverpool. (The city has been named as the European Capital of Culture of 2008.)

Robyn Archer AO was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2000 and Chevalier du l'Ordre des Arts at des Lettres in 2001. She is, without question, a cultural dynamo whose reach extends far beyond the borders of Australia. She is articulate, passionate, controversial and extremely competent.
