Georges Mora 'Art Out Loud' Biennial Artist's Lecture
The State Library of Victoria has partnered with the Georges Mora Foundation to provide lectures and forums that will connect artists' ideas with the broader public.
The Georges Mora 'Art Out Loud' Biennial Artist's Lecture provides the opportunity for an Australian or overseas artist to present their ideas directly to an audience and to show their art through an accompanying installation or exhibition.
Georges Mora was a major figure in Australian culture - an entrepreneur, restaurateur and art dealer who was a catalyst in the Australian art world for forty years. The Georges Mora Foundation honours his incomparable contribution to the visual arts. Inspired by his example and influence, it continues his work of supporting and promoting contemporary art and artists in Australia. In addition to presenting lectures and forums, it offers a Foundation fellowship to help artists explore fresh thinking and to research their ideas.
Digital Arts lecturer Trinh Vu, the first recipient of the Georges Mora Foundation Fellowship, discusses how artists are presenting their ideas with new digital tools.
The inaugural lecture, held in May 2006 to launch the Georges Mora Foundation, was delivered by internationally acclaimed multimedia artist Jeffrey Shaw.
