Bernie Monagle grew up in Melbourne’s northern suburbs and spent some time sliding down the stairs and borrowing books at Preston Library. He experimented with being a fruit picker, builder’s labourer, drama consultant, courier and actor, but has worked as a teacher for 20 years. He now lives in Kyneton.
Bernie made his literary debut with Blue Girl, Yella Fella (2000), a thriller for young adults. His junior fiction hit, Monstered, was released in 2001, and he has since published two more novels for older teenagers- Hot Hits and Hot Hits- the Remix. Bernie’s writing deals with teen decision-making, and he is particularly concerned with boys’ welfare. |
