Martine Murray has studied art, film-making, acrobatics and dance, and is now a teacher of yoga and circus skills. Her wide artistic experience is reflected in her writing for children and teenagers, which is said to celebrate 'difference, collaboration and artistic expression'.
Martine’s first book, A Dog Called Bear, was published in 2000. It was followed by the picture book A Moose Called Mouse (2001), which Martine both wrote and illustrated.
In 2003 The Slightly True Story of Cedar B. Hartley was shortlisted for both the Children’s Book Council Book of the Year Award for Younger Readers and the Patricia Wrightson Prize for Children's Books in the NSW Premier's Literary Awards.
Martine’s latest novel is How to Make a Bird (2003) was shortlisted for the CBC Book of the Year Award for Older Readers in 2004. |
