David Kelly was born in Brisbane, raised in Ipswich, tortured in the bayside suburbs of Wynnum-Manly, fled to London, found himself in Sydney, then on a bus to Brisbane, before finally landing in Newcastle, where he is still recovering.
David failed high school English, but returned to study at age 30 and published his first novel, Fantastic Street, in 2003. It has been described as "a desperate, dreamily hilarious family story bright with pain and love".
David is now a five-dollar pasta waiter and occasional babysitter, and is currently finishing his Masters of Creative Arts degree at the University of Newcastle. |
