Elizabeth Honey

Photo of Elizabeth Honey

Elizabeth Honey grew up on a farm near Wonthaggi. As a child she read many books, was good at drawing, and wanted to be a trapeze artist.

Elizabeth worked for ABC television and advertising agencies before her first picture book, Princess Beatrice and the Rotten Robber, was published in 1988. She is now the author of 13 books, including poetry, picture books and young adult novels, and she has illustrated many more.

Several of Elizabeth’s books have also won or been finalists in major literary awards, including 45 & 47 Stella Street and Everything That Happened, an Honour Book in the 1994 CBCA Book of the Year Award for Younger Readers, and Not a Nibble, winner of the 1997 CBCA Book of the Year Award for Picture Books.

Elizabeth now lives in Richmond, Melbourne, with her graphic designer husband, her two grown-up children and Dup, a scruffy little terrier. Her latest book is The Ballad of Cauldron Bay.
