The Louis Esson Prize for Drama: Judges 2008

| Ailsa Piper (Convenor)Ailsa Piper is a director and writer, who has also worked as a dramaturg, teacher and actor. Her play Small Mercies was joint winner of the Patrick White Playwrights Award in 2001, and she has extensive experience in the development of new work for the stage. Ailsa has been nominated for Green Room Awards as an actor and for her direction of Hellbent, which she adapted from The Duchess of Malfi with Hugh Colman. She was a board member at Playbox for seven years, and is currently a Trustee at the Arts Centre. |

| Mary Lou JelbartMary Lou Jelbart is the Artistic Director of fortyfivedownstairs, an independent, not-for-profit theatre and art gallery in the heart of Melbourne. She is a former ABC arts broadcaster, arts reviewer and writer. She has been a member of the Board of ArtBank, and the Council of the National Trust of Australia (Victoria). She was a St Kilda councillor, and founded the St Kilda Festival, and the St Kilda Short Film Festival. |

| Wendy LasicaWendy Lasica currently coordinates the RE Ross Trust Playwrights' Script Development Awards at the State Library of Victoria. She is also the General Manager of Stonnington Symphony, one of Australia's most highly regarded community orchestras. She works as a producer of theatre, dance and music, including producing Brian Lipson's A Large Attendance in the Antechamber, which toured locally and internationally for seven years. Originally a dancer and choreographer, Lasica was the founding director of The Field in New York, an organisation that supports the work and development of emerging artists. | |
