The CJ Dennis Prize for Poetry: Judges 2009

| Claire Gaskin (convenor)Claire Gaskin’s collection entitled a bud was published by John Leonard Press in 2006 and was shortlisted in the John Bray SA Festival Awards for Literature in 2008. She is the Victorian editor for the literary journal Blue Dog and she is the 2009 recipient of the Alan Marshall scholarship. She has been a long-term teacher of writing in adult education. |

| Justin ClemensJustin Clemens has published extensively on contemporary Australian art and poetry. His books include the mock-epic poem The Mundiad (Black Inc, 2004) and the visionary novella Black River (re.press 2007), illustrated by Helen Johnson. With Ben Naparstek, he is the editor of The Jacqueline Rose Reader (Duke University Press, 2010) and, with AJ Bartlett, of Alain Badiou: Key Concepts (Acumen 2010). His most recent book of poetry is Villain (Hunter Publishers, 2009). He teaches at the University of Melbourne. |

| Lisa GortonLisa Gorton lives in Melbourne. Her first poetry collection, Press Release, was shortlisted for the 2008 Mary Gilmore Award and won the 2008 Victorian Premier's Literary Awards CJ Dennis Prize for Poetry. Lisa completed a doctorate on John Donne's Cosmos at Oxford University. Her essay 'Space in Donne' won the 2001 John Donne Society Award for Distinguished Publication. Lisa writes essays and reviews for newspapers and journals, and her novel for children, Cloudland, was published by Pan Macmillan in 2008. She won the inaugural Vincent Buckley Poetry Prize. | |
