The Alfred Deakin Prize for an Essay Advancing Public Debate: Judges 2003
Jonathan Mills (Convenor)
Jonathan Mills directed the 2000 and 2001 Melbourne Festivals, the Autumn Federation Festival in 2001, and is Artistic Director of the Alfred Deakin Lectures Board. An internationally recognized composer, his operas include Summer of the Seventh Doll and Ghost Wife composed with Dorothy Porter. He has worked as a regular guest conductor with all major Australian orchestras, as Artistic Director of the Adelaide Chamber Orchestra (1990-94) and Artistic Advisor Brisbane Biennial (1994-97). His many Awards include: Australian Performing Rights Association Award 1998, Don Banks Music Fellowship 1996 and Sir Bernard Heinze Award 1997.
Bronte Adams
Bronte Adams has led and managed public sector policy development and implementation and has consulted on communications and business including external relations strategies to a wide range of public and private sector clients. Bronte is a Rhodes scholar, a former consultant with Mc Insey & Co. and a former Executive Director of Multimedia Victoria. She has lectured at Harvard, Cornell, Delhi, Oxford and Sydney universities and is currently principal of Dandolo Partners.
Mike Richards
Mike Richards is the author of The Hanged Man: The Life & Death of Ronald Ryan, which won the Ned Kelly Prize 2002, and was runner-up in the National Biography Award 2003.
