Opening Weekend & Guided Tours

My land, my stories
Indigenous Victorians have always communicated their connection to the land and each other through stories, art and dance. Celebrate the living cultural landscape of Aboriginal Victorians in a weekend of activities and performances.

  • Healing the Spirit – My possum-skin cloak: Join artist Vicki Couzens of the Gunditjmara and Kirrae Whurrong clans to learn how possum-skin cloaks tell stories of land, family and identity (Sat & Sun, 1–2pm).
  • Join and Unite: See the Jindi Worobak Dance Troupe performing Wurundjeri dances (Sat, 3–4pm).
  • Dreamtime Stories: Join Wamba Wamba man and storyteller Ron Murray for traditional dreaming stories of the south-eastern tribes (Sun, 3–4pm).

Time: Sat 25 & Sun 26 April, 1–2pm & 3–4pm

The curator's view
Join exhibition curator Steve Grimwade (Associate Director, 2009 Melbourne Writers Festival) for an engaging introduction to  the exhibition. Tours in May presented in association with the Emerging Writers Festival.

Explore the exhibition and discover the stories and the voices of Victoria's rich and diverse written culture.
