Geraldine Brooks, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of March, speaks about her latest novel, People of the Book. The book tells the story of an ancient Hebrew illuminated manuscript, taking the reader on a journey of discovery across continents and into the medieval world. Australian-born Geraldine Brooks has enjoyed a highly successful career as an award-winning journalist, writing for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Wall Street Journal, where she worked as a foreign correspondent covering the Middle East, Africa and the Balkans.
Her 1994 non-fiction book Nine Parts of Desire was a bestseller, and in 1997 her non-fiction Foreign Correspopndence won the Nita B Kibble Award for women's writing. Her best-selling first novel Year of Wonders was published in 2001, and in 2006 she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for her second novel, March.
