Hear Geraldine Brooks, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of March, speak about her latest novel, People of the Book. It tells the story of an ancient Hebrew illuminated manuscript, taking the reader on a journey of discovery across continents and into the medieval world. (Presented by Reader’s Feast Bookstore.) Bestiaries and psalters of the Middle Ages (An Allan and Maria Myers Academic Centre Public Lecture)

In this lecture at the University of Melbourne, Christopher de Hamel will discuss the ways in which animals from the medieval bestiary (compendium of beasts) were used in the psalter (popular prayer book). He will highlight a 12th-century bestiary which features engaging illustrations of animals and monsters. Cambridge collected: The Pierre Gorman story (A free exhibition at the University of Melbourne)
Australian Pierre Gorman (1924–2006), the first profoundly deaf PhD graduate of the University of Cambridge, compiled an extensive collection of books on Cambridge, particularly the University and its colleges. This exhibition celebrates his generous contribution with the launch of a complete catalogue of the Cambridge collection.
