He discusses the parallel importance of Victoria in relation to the importance of states (such as California, the world's seventh-largest economy) in the US climate policy context. He also looks at other key sectors for climate action in the US, such as faith-based groups and the private sector.

Hon Joseph B Gildenhorn is Chairman of the Board, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. A widely respected diplomat and businessman, he serves on numerous civic and public policy-oriented boards. In 2000, he was honoured with the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship and served as a member of the Wilson Council until his appointment as board chairman.
Dr Geoffrey D Dabelko is Director of the Environmental Change and Security Program, a nonpartisan policy forum on environment, population, and security issues at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. He is Co-Vice Chair of the Scientific Committee of the International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change (IHDP) and an editorial board member of Global Environmental Change.
