Discover the Library's art collection and galleries at Get Into Art!, a day of special activities at Melbourne's public arts venues.

10am-5pm: Become a Library Detective!

Free fun for kids! Follow the clues to answer 20 questions about the Library's art collections, and win great prizes.

11-11.45am: Free talk: Perils of the Studio

Alex Taylor, author of Perils of the Studio, reveals the bohemian world of Melbourne's art studios from the 1880s to 1940s, including Grosvenor Chambers, which housed the studios of Tom Roberts, Arthur Streeton, Clara Southern, Charles Conder, E Phillips Fox and others.

2-3pm: Free talk: The Art of the Collection

Prominent writers, art historians, academics, librarians and even the artists themselves have contributed to The Art of the Collection, a new book celebrating the Library's remarkable Pictures Collection. Join them for a panel discussion as they explore works ranging from early 18th and 19th-century portraits and busts to contemporary portraits and scenes of Melbourne and Victoria from the 1800s to now.
