their object seems to be to throw both
upon the Colonial Governments - you
will perceive by the reply to my letter
that Lord Glenelg had never sent that
reply (he signed it) nor probably ever saw
the letter and accompanying documents
which it professes to answer - My
next must be presented to Ld. Glenelg by
some influential person taking an
interest in the matter - in this we need
be in no hurry but wait till such
can be found. If the archives of
the Colonial Office could be dipped
into I have my doubts whether Coll.
Arthur would be then shewn up
in favouring our plan he has pro-
-bably an object of his own totally at
variance with - at least Yours - viz:
of getting any new free Colony plans
opposite to V.D.L. under his own Government
I have studiously avoided all
communication with Palmer on this
Subject - they are deeply interested
in the South Australian Colony ~
