Dr Graham Willett, from the Australian Centre, University of Melbourne and president, Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives, will discuss how gay/lesbian/queer history has been treated primarily as a kind of public history.
While academics have played their part, community-based organisations – like the archives and Sydney's Pride History Group – and enthusiastic amateurs have used self-publishing, history walks and local exhibitions to share their stories and discoveries.
This event was part of the Making Public Histories series.
