'Mirror of the world' exhibition tour

Australian Curriculum years/ AusVELS levels: 3-VCE/VCAL
Learning Areas/Domains: English, history
General capabilities: literacy, critical and creative thinking
Duration: 60 minutes
Cost: $5.50 per student (inc GST)

Students will visit the Mirror of the world exhibition and view historical examples of writing such as a cuneiform tablet and early printed works.

They will discover the evolution of printing and the book – from clay, to vellum, to paper – and be prompted to consider the book as an artform. Exhibition highlights include John James Audubon’s Birds of America, the 19th-century Midget Library and books that have changed the world.
