The medieval imagination

The medieval imagination exhibition of illuminated manuscripts celebrated the art of the hand-written book or manuscript. Works on display included sacred traditional texts as well as works of music, law, history, science and literature.

Dating from the 8th to 16th centuries, the manuscripts on display included examples of deluxe medieval and Renaissance book production from Byzantium, England, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain.

The medieval imagination: illuminated manuscripts from Cambridge, Australia and New Zealand was held from March to June 2008.
