Original documents online
One of the best things about the State Library of Victoria is that a lot of its rare, original material is now available in digital format on its website, so you can view it whenever you want. These unique items include:
- The Port Phillip Papers –
digital copies of the 15 earliest and most important documents from Victoria's European settlement.
- Victorian
pamphlets – around 1500 full-text pamphlets covering over 200 years of Victoria's history. To access this
collection, type ‘vicpamphlets' into the Main Catalogue as a ‘keyword search
anywhere'.
- Pictures Collection – paintings, drawings, prints,
cartoons, photographs, posters, postcards and some printed ephemera relating to Victoria's cultural, geographical, historical and sociological
development.
- Alma Collection – Will Alma's collection of posters and
photographs documenting over 70 years as a professional magician. To
access this collection, type ‘miscpics' into the main catalogue as a
‘keyword search anywhere'.
- Imaging 19th Century Victoria Digitising Project – large-format, zoomable photographs, printed material and ephemera relating to life in 19th century Victoria. To access this collection, type ‘ncentury' into the Pictures Catalogue as a ‘keyword search anywhere'.
