Highlights of the Library
The State Library of Victoria is a research library, which means that it contains historical items and original documents that you won't find anywhere else. You can't borrow items, but there's a huge range of items you can look at and read.
To do this you'll need to register as a Library user. It's free to register, and once you do, you'll have access to over 2 million items from different collections, plus local and international databases.
The three best things about the State Library of Victoria:
- You can ask the librarians to help you find what you need – they're there to help!
- Lots of the Library's collection is now available in digital format online, so you don't even need to leave home to use it.
- It's free to visit the exhibitions and access broadband wireless internet. It's also free to access collection items – once you're a registered Library user.
