Medicine & Health
Our collection of medical and health resources covers every aspect of human disease from prevention, causes and diagnoses to the full range of symptoms, treatments and cures. All approaches and disciplines are represented in this collection including pharmacology, obstetrics and gynaecology, forensic medicine, dentistry, surgery and complementary medicine.
What's in the Medicine & Health Collection?
This collection contains an extensive selection of reference material including most of the standard texts covering topics as diverse as anatomy, alcohol and drugs, nutrition, birth control, public health and the history of medicine. Disease and drug guides, encyclopedias, peer-reviewed medical journals, and key medical handbooks supplement the Library's online and CD-ROM databases. These electronic resources provide access to hundreds of journals, often with full text versions of the most up-to-date medical information.
What's special about this collection?
The Library's collection of historical works, which was established in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, offers a unique insight into the world of medicine and disease over 100 years ago. This collection includes a significant number of rare and unique pamphlets.
