[Shiva stands in front of an image from the Love and devotion: from Persia and beyond exhibition at the State Library of Victoria. She talks to an interlocutor just off-camera.]
Shiva: I’m lucky to be a volunteer in the State Library of Victoria, especially in this great exhibition Love and devotion: from Persia and beyond.
[Shot of books in a display case at the exhibition.]
Shiva: I’m working as a tour guide here. I just explain some illustration, manuscript and I talk about the Persian history, culture that you found from these illustrations. And it’s about some books from the Bodleian Library, Oxford University.

Shiva: Yes, we are really lucky we have this exhibition here. We can talk with people and they’re really happy when they’ve found more about this stuff and this new culture for them.
[Shiva holds a map and talks about it to exhibition attendees.]
Shiva: I’m enjoying because I studied Persian literature too. And when I talk with people, people ask a lot of questions about the Persian culture, literature, history, even political vision sometimes. And I can answer them. And after all, it sometimes happens that people clap at the end of the tour – I really enjoy, I think I am a celebrity for five minutes! [Laughs]

Shiva: I’m studying business management, Master of Business Management, at Swinburne University and I’m working at IKEA too. But I’m struggling between all of them. I’m enjoying when I come here, and I have a lot of energy I got from this exhibition. When I go work, like last week – I came here, I had a tour, I go to the IKEA, and my colleague asked me, ‘Oh, Shiva, you’re great, no?’ You have more energy in the afternoon.’ And I said, ‘Yes, because I was in exhibition.’ [Laughs]
