Electronic resources
The following items are a selection of electronic materials that are available for research and study when you visit the Library. Most of these items can be accessed at computer workstations throughout the Library. Staff at the La Trobe Reading Room information desk can help you locate these resources.
APAIS: Australian Public Affairs Information Service
Database contains a wide range of scholarly periodical articles in the humanities and social sciences field.
Mabo: the Native Title Revolution
CD-ROM delves into the Mabo legal case and the important issues it raises for Australians and indigenous peoples everywhere. This multimedia resource gives an overview of the case and provides an insight into Torres Strait Islander culture and Eddie Mabo himself. It also examines broader concepts such as colonisation, land rights and native title in Australia and internationally.
Encyclopaedia of Aboriginal Australia
Database containing information on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, society and culture.
Australian Heritage Bibliography (formerly HERA)
Australian Heritage Commission database covering Australia's natural and cultural environment. Emphasis on reports written or commissioned by government and non-government heritage agencies. Subject coverage includes national parks, endangered species, coasts, forests, wetlands, rivers, geological features, wilderness areas, world heritage sites, aboriginal rock art sites, ceremonial grounds and sacred sites.
IREL
Australian industrial relations database, indexing periodical articles, books and some unpublished material on industrial relations and related topics, including law articles. Covers the period 1993 -2000.
EBSCOhost
Online database, which includes access to a range of full-text databases, including Academic Search Premier, MasterFILE Premier, and World Magazine Bank.
