Electronic resources

The following items are a selection of electronic materials that are available for research and study when you visit the Library. Most of these items can be accessed at computer workstations throughout the Library. Staff at the information desks can help you locate these resources.

Refer to Arts and Australiana guides for reference to relevant Arts databases. These include APAIS (Australian Public Affairs Information Service), EBSCOhost, Art Abstracts (Wilson), Australian Visual Arts Databases, AustArt Index, The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Visual Artists Database, Australia Council Press Clippings 1974-1988.

The Pictures Catalogue contains over 180,000 images from the State Library of Victoria’s Picture Collection.

Australiana index

Check for references to portraits in published sources such as newspapers, journals and books. Since 1997 records have been entered directly online.  An earlier card index is also available in the La Trobe Reading Room. Also includes references to the built environment.
