Australian Dictionary of Biography (ADB) Online
http://www.adb.online.anu.edu.au/adbonline.htm Authorative articles on the lives of pre-eminent persons in Australian history. May be searched by name, occupation, gender, religious influences, cultural heritage, published and archival sources and ADB authors.
Australia’s Cultural Network
http://www.cultureandrecreation.gov.au A gateway to the websites and exhibitions of Australia’s cultural and sporting institutions.
Australian Heritage Commission
http://www.ahc.gov.au Includes a comprehensive register to significant buildings, gardens, and shipwrecks Australia wide. There is also a register specific to Victoria via Heritage Victoria (http://www.heritage.vic.gov.au).
Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies
http://www.aiatsis.gov.au Includes a good catalogue to the Library’s resources including a biography index.
Australian Journals Online
http://www.nla.gov.au/ajol A database of Australian electronic journals with both a search and browse function.
Australian Periodical Publications 1840-1845
http://www.nla.gov.au/ferg/ A digital library of Australian journals that began publication between 1840 and 1845. Full text versions of the journals digitised are available online.
Federation http://www.foundingdocs.gov.au Includes digital images and transcripts of many of the important documents that help tell the story of the formation of the state and federal governments in Australia.
Pandora
http://pandora.nla.gov.au/index.html A joint project between the National Library of Australia and its partners including the State Library of Victoria, this site aims to preserve and provide access to significant sites that would otherwise be lost. Sites include web pages for community groups, local campaigns and elections.
Prime Ministers of Australia Scrapbook
http://www.nma.gov.au/primeministers/ In-depth biographies of all Australian prime ministers, including portrait photographs.
SETIS (Scholarly Electronic Text and Imaging Service)
http://setis.library.usyd.edu.au/ A database of digital editions of Australian historical and literary texts. This site includes texts on Australian studies subjects like Federation and Exploration. Another site, Project Gutenberg (http://gutenberg.net.au), also has Australian material available online but it includes more general texts.
