Volunteering

Volunteers are vital to the work of the Library. By generously donating their time, talent and skills they allow the Library to enhance and extend its programs and services.

Volunteers come from all walks of life - business people, retirees, parents, community leaders, students - and provide assistance in many different ways including:

  • helping with indexing projects
  • acting as guides of the Library's heritage buildings and exhibitions
  • providing administrative support and data entry
  • developing the digital collection in Experimedia
  • repackaging special collection items
  • working on fundraising projects for the State Library of Victoria Foundation.

How do I become a volunteer?

For further information about how to become a Library volunteer, contact the Volunteers and Tours Manager on 03 8664 7279 or email volunteers@slv.vic.gov.au.
