Bequests & the Redmond Barry Society
For over a century, generous benefactors have helped to create and maintain the State Library of Victoria by making bequests. A bequest is a provision in your will that names the recipient or recipients of your estate.
State Library of Victoria bequests
When making a bequest to the State Library of Victoria you may wish to specify an amount of money or a percentage of your estate, the remainder of your estate, a book collection or work of art, or other items such as shares or real estate.
Bequests can be general or specific. A general bequest allows the State Library of Victoria Foundation to allocate the funds wherever the need is greatest. A specific bequest allows you to select where you would like the funds to be allocated. You may wish, for example, to support a particular program or part of the Library’s collection.
The Redmond Barry Society
Established to acknowledge the generosity and support of State Library benefactors, membership of the Society is open to anyone whose Library bequest has been confirmed. Members of the Redmond Barry Society enjoy an interesting and varied program of cultural tours, special viewings and exclusive functions that reflect the work of the Library and demonstrate the important role it plays in the Victorian community.
