One aspect of the State Library's role as the premier library in Victoria is to forge strong partnerships with key organisations to promote and advance the delivery and use of library services in Victoria, Australia and beyond.
The Library Board of Victoria, through the State Library, is partnering with the public library network to deliver enhanced library services to Victoria's communities.
The State Library of Victoria is an active member of National and State Libraries Australasia (NSLA), the peak body representing State and Territory libraries and the National Libraries of Australia and New Zealand.
In March 2007, the State Library of Victoria and the National Library of Singapore renewed and updated their Memorandum of Understanding as a means of strengthening links between the two institutions.
A reciprocal exchange program has existed between Nanjing Library - the third-largest public library in China - and the State Library of Victoria since 1985. The program covers the exchange of publications and staff visits.
