Victoria Government Gazette

A collaborative project between the State Library of Victoria, Land Victoria and the Office of the Chief Parliamentary Counsel, the Victoria Government Gazette 1836-1997 online archive provides access to over 160 years of official information published in and about Victoria.

It contains images of every relevant page in the Victoria Government Gazette produced since 1836, as well as searchable indexes for each publication.

First published in the earliest days of the colony, the Victoria Government Gazette documents the official notifications of government decisions and legal actions for other governments, government agencies and the general public.

The website builds on the results of a significant digitisation program by Land Victoria. The State Library of Victoria completed the digitisation work and has made available the complete set of gazettes from 1836 to 1997.

Publications available:

• New South Wales Government Gazette (1836-51)
• Port Phillip Government Notices (January to 12 July 1843)
• Port Phillip Government Gazette (January 1844 to July 1851)
• Victoria Government Gazette (July 1851 to 1997)

Gazettes published by the Office of the Chief Parliamentary Counsel from 1998 to the present are available in PDF from the recent gazettes website.
