Collaborative Activities
The State Library of Victoria participates in a number of collaborative projects with other institutions.
AskNow is an online reference service delivered using chat software. It is a project of National and State Libraries Australasia.
This program has been developed by Centre for Youth Literature and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to encourage a culture of reading amongst adolescent boys.
The State Library is a partner in this two-year collaborative project to evaluate the influence of copyright laws on the processes of digitisation being undertaken by Australian cultural institutions.

Learning on Track is a partnership between the State Library and Metlink Melbourne that provides free learning programs and transport to libraries for school students in the Melton area.
A collaboration between the Library and the Koorie Heritage Trust Inc, this project will establish an interactive website documenting the history of Koorie experiences on six mission and reserve sites in Victoria.
Open Road was established to develop online resources and services for Victoria's multilingual communities. Launched in 1999 as a pilot website, this collaborative project allowed public libraries to expand their collections to meet the needs of smaller ethnic groups within their communities.
Since 1998, the State Library of Victoria has been a partner in this project which was set up at the National Library of Australia to archive selected Australian online publications and develop a national strategy for their long-term preservation.

A collaboration between the Department of Veterans' Affairs and the State Library of Victoria, this website records the experiences and recollections of 20 Victorians through a series of interviews and material held in the Library's collections.
This is a joint program of the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, the State Library Victoria and the Municipal Association of Victoria. From 2008 to 2011 it will deliver children's books and reading support materials to promote early childhood literacy.
