Organisation & Governance

The State Library of Victoria is one of seven cultural agencies of the Victorian State Government. These agencies are overseen by Arts Victoria, a division of the Department of Premier and Cabinet. Arts Victoria is responsible for implementing the Government's Arts policies. 

Library Board of Victoria

The Library Board of Victoria governs the activities and operation of the State Library, and reports to the Victorian Minister for the Arts.

Executive

Under the direction of the Board, the Executive manages the Library and its collections, services, programs and responsibilities. The Executive comprises the Chief Executive Officer and State Librarian, three Directors and a Chief Technology Officer. The directors each head a Library department, and the Chief Technology Officer heads the Office of eStrategy and Innovation. All report to the CEO.

Foundation

The State Library of Victoria Foundation is responsible for fundraising and supporting the work of Library. The Executive Director of the Library Foundation reports to the CEO.

The Library's three departments are subdivided into divisions:

The Office of eStrategy and Innovation has no divisions.

Staff

The Library has over 350 highly skilled members of staff whose collective knowledge and expertise, across a diverse range of fields, ensures that we continue to provide the highest levels of service to our users.
