Executive
Under the direction of the Library Board of Victoria, the Executive is responsible for the effective management of the Library and its collections, services, programs and responsibilities. The Executive comprises the Chief Executive Officer and State Librarian; three Directors who each head one of the Library’s departments - Collections and Access, Corporate Services and Planning, and Community, Learning and Public Library Partnerships; and the Chief Technology Specialist, who is responsible for the Office of eStrategy and Innovation.
 Anne-Marie Schwirtlich | Chief Executive Officer and State LibrarianAnne-Marie Schwirtlich is the Chief Executive Officer and State Librarian. She has overall responsibility for:
- ensuring the implementation of the Board’s directions
- sound corporate governance
- management of the State Collection and the operations of the Library.
As Chief Executive Officer she is specifically responsible for the activities of the Board. The three departmental heads and the Chief Technology Specialist report to her, as does the Executive Director of the State Library of Victoria Foundation. |
 Shane Carmody | Director of Collections and AccessShane Carmody is the Director of Collections and Access. He is responsible for:
- the State Collection
- information services and resources
- acquisitions, digitisation and cataloguing
- collection conservation
- storage, retrieval and reformatting
- exhibitions and events.

 Kate Molloy | Director of Corporate Services and PlanningKate Molloy is responsible for the Library's:
- financial management and corporate governance
- business planning and development
- human resources
- buildings and facilities
- information and communications technology infrastructures and applications.

 Sue Hamilton | Director of Community, Learning and Public Library PartnershipsSue Hamilton is responsible for managing the Library's:
- learning services program
- relationship with the statewide network of public libraries
- marketing and public affairs
- publications and communication
- community outreach programs, provided by Vicnet.

 Ian Patterson | Chief Technology OfficerIan Patterson manages the Office of eStrategy and Innovation. He is responsible for:
- research and implementation of all major information and communication technology initiatives in the Library, including slv21-specific initiatives.
