Vicnet enables people to access the internet and information technology (IT) by delivering programs and services for the community on behalf of clients.

A division of the State Library of Victoria, Vicnet helps the Library meet its goal of providing access to information for everyone and strengthening communities through the use of IT.

Vicnet projects

Vicnet has helped to connect communities by delivering many successful projects on behalf of clients including government, corporate, community and philanthropic organisations.

• CALD Senior Surfers offers basic internet training and ongoing internet access to senior Victorians from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, including training participants to train their peers.
• Community Languages Online is an extensive research report on the availability of multilingual information on Victorian government websites.
• Internet Training for People with a Disability offers training and resources for Victorians with a disability, including training participants to train their peers.
• IT for Kindergartens offers internet access, training and IT support for over 1200 Victorian kindergartens, enhancing their operational management and professional development.
• Monash–Vicnet Translation and Technology Project developed training materials to support the development of translations for online use.
• MyLanguage is an award-winning website that provides access to search engines, web directories and news in over 65 languages.
• Public Internet Access Program supports and assists local community hubs providing free or affordable public internet access.
• Wynlearn project constructed a website promoting learning opportunities in the City of Wyndham and trained staff to maintain the site.
