People & Property
The People and Property Division brings together two separate functions previously known as Human Resources & Organisation Development, and Buildings & Facilities. The Division operates as two units under a single managerial identity.
The primary role of the People unit is to develop and implement strategic and operational policies and procedures which constitute best practice in human resource management. A specific focus of the unit is to provide leadership in the development and delivery of actions arising from the Organisational Capability initiative of the Library's slv21 strategic plan. The unit also provides specialist advice and leadership to the Library in respect of:
- performance management
- recruitment
- employee and industrial relations
- occupational health & safety
- job design and evaluation
- training and development.
The Property unit is responsible for maintaining a safe, accessible and secure facility for both the public and staff within an iconic heritage site. The unit is also responsible for coordinating any capital works associated with redeveloping, upgrading and/or refurbishing the site. These responsibilities extend to the Library's offsite storage facilities. The building, engineering and infrastructure responsibilities range from fire protection, emergency systems and security services, to air-conditioning, lighting and cleaning. They also include capital and minor works, accommodation and the Library's infrastructure master plan.
