Events & Exhibitions
The role of the Events & Exhibitions Division is to raise the profile of the Library as an active and relevant cultural institution. It is responsible for implementing a diverse program of displays, events and other activities to increase awareness of the Library and provide opportunities for the public to interact with the Library's collections and other programs. Its activities include:
- corporate, community and public events themed around the Library's collections, exhibitions and programs; books, writing and ideas; and public debate and discourse
- management of the annual Victorian Premier's Literary Awards on behalf of the Victorian Government
- temporary exhibitions, including those in the Keith Murdoch Gallery and Cowen Gallery, and the permanent exhibitions Mirror of the World: books and ideas, The changing face of Victoria, and the Cowen Gallery
- an annual events program, which includes exhibition launches and associated events, annual lectures and talks, and the annual donor and volunteer parties.
